Thomas Soane, d1647, was a leading London grocer and prominent in affairs of Worshipful Co of Grocers. In 1622 took lease of important St Botolph's Wharf, Billingsgate, City of London, from City Corporation [it had formerly been leased by the Russia Co]. Succeeded in business by his widow who leased wharf in 1652 for 61 years
