Established 1968 to acquire Sundries Division of British Railways and in 1969 was transferred to the newly formed National Freight Corp Ltd. Acquired BR's road freight infrastructure including cartage services and parcel deliveries. Rationalised in order to return to profitability receiving government assistance. In 1980s focused on parcels and contract services. Parcels was subsequently merged with others to form Lynx Express Delivery Network Ltd in 1987 and in 1997 sold to management. Contract Services subsumed into NFC's logistics division which traded as Exel Logistics. NCL ceased to exist 1995
