Then also made refined wood spirit. Thereafter controlled by John Aldred. Developed chemical production - eg acetic acid, tar, pitch, white lead, from byproducts. From early 1880s controlled by Shirley Aldred. By 1900 works at Rotherham, Killamarsh and Chesterfield. 1906 moved to Worksop. Incorporated 1897. Continues
