Traced origins to late 1830s when promoted by Sir William Burnett, 1779-1861, Director General of the Royal Navy's medical services. 1838 he had patented products for disinfecting and timber preservation and established manufacturing at Millwall. Attained considerable success. Business by early 20th century focused on timber and plywood importing and continued at least until recent times at Cuffley, Hertfordshire
