Built in 1798 to design of John Rennie for James Perry, 1756-1821, proprietor of the Morning Chronicle, on site of an ancient mill. Very large mill with seven pairs of millstones. Perry acquired freehold in 1806. Sold following Perry's death. Ceased grain milling in c1910 and from 1919 to 1991 occupied by Connolly Leather Ltd
