Established in UK by Goodyear Tire & Rubber of USA, formed 1898, in 1920s when built in 1927 a rubber tyre manufacturing plant at Wolverhampton. Had originally opened a sales office in London in 1912. After 1927 soon diversified into other rubber products. Expanded Wolverhampton plant progressively so that by 1960s employed 5,000. 1957 opened a second plant at Glasgow which closed in 1980. Reduced in size from 1980s but continues at Wolverhampton as Goodyear Dunlop in 2015
