William Brown, 1791-1864, was son of James Brown, leading flax spinner at Dundee, operating from West Ward where a pioneering flax mill was built in 1806-7. Shortly after 1800 William and two of his brothers acquired East Mill, Dundee, and established another flax spinning business. William - from 1810 - was initially responsible for production as the mill's manager from 1810. Closed 1820s?
