Notes:

Established in 1890 in connection with the reorganisation of the Peruvian Government's external sterling debt which had been in default since 1875. The Corporation issued shares in return for defaulted bonds and then surrendered these to Peruvian Government in exchange for assets, concessions and revenue streams. The Corporation thereby obtained a major economic interest in Peru, especially in its transport system and guano deposits. Grace Brothers, of Peru, were especially important in negotiating the arrangement. The Corporation administered its affairs through a local agent who reported to London. 1955 acquired by Peruvian Transport Corp Ltd
