Notes:

Traced origins to Edwin G Brown, d1953, who established a sheet metal workshop in Islington, London, in 1912. Grew rapidly 1914-18 and by 1919 had a major factory at Northumberland Park, Tottenham. From 1920s made sheet metal for new generation of buses of London General Omnibus Co Ltd, later London Passenger Transport Board. Converted to public company in 1936. From late 1930s also focused on supplying the aircraft production industry. Post 1945 also supplied commercial vehicle manufacturers and others
