John Gulson, 1813-1904, was a leading Coventry businessman. Joined his father as a partner in the private bank of Goodall, Gulson & Goodall of Coventry in 1835. In 1839 this bank was acquired by the Coventry & Warwickshire Banking Co of which Gulson became Chairman. In 1879 acquired by Lloyds Banking Co Ltd of which Gulson became a director until 1886. In 1835 he had helped to form Coventry Savings Bank. He also had interests in the silk trade being a silk broker from 1838 and between 1850 and 1872 he was a partner in Gulson & Caldicott, silkmen. Thereafter, until 1896, he was involved in Coventry Machinist Co, bicycle manufacturers
