Notes:

Traced origins to c1860 when established by Frederick Doughty, d1880, at Ipswich, Suffolk. Then a wholesaler and retailer in leather and grindery goods. Soon after started making men's boots. Renamed Frederick Doughty & Sons. c1900 ended wholesaling/retailing to focus on footwear production. 1903 gave up manufacturing to focus on 'factoring of shoes' and thereafter expanded substantially.1907 relocated to London, later being based in Shoreditch. 1928 incorporated.
