(Sir) John James Burnet, 1857-1938, was a leading Scottish architect especially involved in the design of prestige buildings in Glasgow, many for commercial use. From 1882 in partnership with his father, John, 1814-1901 the firm being known as Burnet, Son & Campbell from 1886. John Campbell withdrew in 1897 and from 1909 in partnership with Norman A Dick. Opened London office in 1905, notably with John Tait, which operated separately from Glasgow. Sometime known as Sir John Burnet, Tait & Lorne. Commercial buildings included Clyde Navigation and Glasgow Savings Bank in Glasgow and Kodak Building and General Accident Building in London
