Henry Trengrouse, 1772-1854, was a pyrotechnics manufacturer who designed an innovative rocket propelled line to rescue people from shipwrecked vessels, etc. Perfected in c1808 and acquired by Admiralty from c1818 although the latter subsequently built the system paying Trengrouse a royalty per unit manufactured. Supplied other interested entities and navies but apparently derived little financial success
