William Hutton, 1723-1815, briefly set up in business as a bookbinder and bookseller at Southwell and, from 1750, was a bookseller, bookbinder and stationer at Birmingham. He soon emerged there as a leading stationer owning a substantial 'paper warehouse', referred to by him as The Paper Warehouse. 1759 built a windmill on Handsworth Heath for papermaking which was unsuccessful and closed c1761. Introduced a circulating library to Birmingham in c1751. His son, Thomas, took over management of the business
