John Bolton, 1756-1837, established himself in 1786 as a Liverpool merchant trading to the West Indies having formerly worked at St Vincent for another firm. Became a leader in the slave, sugar and rum trades. Lived at Storrs Hall, Windermere, which he purchased c1808 [2023]
