Notes:

Traced origins to 1792 when a Silverdale Co was established to mine local iron ore deposits for use by local ironworks of Sneyd family. Coal was subsequently also mined and transport links improved. A new Silverdale Co was established in 1848 when Ralph Sneyd leased coal and ore bearing land to Francis Stanier who was later in partnership with Robert Heath. From mid 1880s until 1901 leases taken over by Butterley Co. Ironworks closed in very early 20th century when Silverdale Colliery Co Ltd established to work the coal mines. 1918 its assets were acquired by Shelton Iron & Steel Co Ltd
