Traced origins to c1919 when formed as the Royalty Owners' Joint Committee to represent the interests of other groupings such as Mineral Owners' Association of Great Britain, Central Landowners' Association, South Wales Royalty Owners' Association and Mineral Owners' Committee of the Scottish Land & Property Federation. Renamed Mineral Owners' Joint Committee in early 1920s. A non political alliance for the protection and benefit of persons receiving mineral rights and in particular fought nationalisation of mineral rights in 1920s and 30s and negotiated for compensation.
