Traced origins to Isidoro Calvete, b1886, who arrived in London from Europe in 1916. 1917 established himself as an electrical contractor in central London. Started manufacture of electrical equipment for medical and beauty treatment. From 1917 associated with Eugene Suter, a leading London women's hairdresser, for whom he developed electrical hair waving equipment. Incorporated c1920 as I Calvete Ltd and by 1930s had works at Clapham. Used ICALL trademark. Eventually Calvete and Suter separated and the latter, which traded variously as Eugene Ltd and Suter Electrical Ltd, started manufacture on its own account. In 1936 Eugene acquired control of Calvete and became a public company. From c1939 fully absorbed Calvete
