Traces its origins to the Aga cooker developed and made in Sweden from c1912 by Gas Accumulator Co. Marketed in Britain from 1929 by Bell's Asbestos & Engineering Supplies Ltd of Slough through Bell's Heat Appliances Ltd. Manufacturing began in 1932 at Brentford, later at Smethwick. In 1936 Bells merged into Allied Ironfounders Ltd which developed the product through Aga Heat Ltd. By late 1940s some 50,000 installations achieved. In 1969 Allied was acquired by Glynwed Ltd. By 2001 Glynwed International Plc had divested all its other activities to focus of Aga, Rayburn and associated products, 2001 renamed Aga Foodservices Group and subsequently known as Aga Rangemaster Group Plc. Rayburn brand established by Allied Iron Foundries in 1946 at Coalbrookdale
